Costs and Payments

I know this topic is probably of interest to many of you, so I will review it in detail.

My clinic offers two plans for egg freezing: Plan A or Plan B. The decision is made by the doctor based on the results of the initial examination. Basically, it depends on the type of fertility drugs used. I used the injectable type of fertility drugs, so I went with Plan A. The breakdown is as follows:

Service /Cost /Total

  • First Visit (Initial Examination + feather treatment*) JPY¥27,300 + JPY¥298,000 / Total JPY¥325,300
  • Egg Retrieval (+ medications) JPY¥252,530 (16 eggs**)
  • By the way, the treatment fee includes the cost of medicine and injections.
  • Freezing cost JPY¥15,000 (per egg)

After the first visit, I visited the clinic several times for blood sampling and ultrasound examinations, from which I received additional induction drugs, but I did not pay anything for them.

The cost on the day of egg retrieval varies considerably from person to person, as it depends on the number of eggs retrieved and whether or not additional medications are prescribed. For me, the total cost was JPY¥252,530 for 16 eggs + medications.

The total cost for all the egg freezing was JPY¥577,829.

From this point on, there will be annual renewal fees from next year onward to store my eggs in a safe manner. My clinic charges JPY¥33,000 for every 5 eggs.
